💧 Water & Moisture

Water is one of the biggest enemies of gold plating. Even small amounts of moisture can cause the plating to lift, dull, or develop discolouration over time.

  • Remove all jewelry before showering, bathing, or swimming — chlorine, salt water, and hot water accelerate plating wear.
  • Avoid wearing jewelry during sweaty activities such as workouts, sports, or physical work.
  • If your piece gets wet, pat it dry immediately with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Stainless steel is more water-resistant, but prolonged exposure will still dull its finish over time.

🌸 Perfume, Sprays & Chemicals

Alcohol-based products are the fastest way to strip gold plating. Always apply fragrances and body products before putting on your jewelry.

  • Never spray perfume, body mist, or hairspray directly onto jewelry.
  • Avoid contact with lotions, sunscreens, hand sanitisers, and makeup.
  • Household cleaning products, bleach, and dishwashing liquids can cause irreversible damage — remove your jewelry before any cleaning tasks.
  • Beauty routine first, jewelry last — always.

✨ Cleaning Your Jewelry

Routine cleaning keeps your pieces looking brand new. Always use gentle methods to protect the plating and finish.

For Gold-Plated Pieces

  • Wipe gently with a dry or slightly damp soft cloth (microfibre works best) after each wear.
  • For light dirt, use a cloth lightly dampened with plain water only — no soap.
  • Never use toothpaste, baking soda, or abrasive cleaners — these scratch and strip the plating.
  • Avoid ultrasonic cleaners and harsh jewellery cleaning solutions.

For Stainless Steel Pieces

  • Wipe with a soft cloth dampened with mild soap and warm water.
  • Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly.
  • Stainless steel can tolerate gentle cleaning but still avoid abrasive materials.

Proper storage prevents scratches, tangling, and tarnishing.

  • Store each piece separately — in individual pouches, compartments, or soft-lined boxes.
  • Keep jewelry away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and humid environments (avoid storing in bathrooms).

  • Lay necklaces and chains flat or hang them to prevent knotting.
